Do you think Presidential pardons are a good thing?

Just before leaving office, our Presidents begin going over lists of prisoners, submitted by their sponsors, seeking pardons for offenses they may or may not be guilty of. It has become a 'right of page' for our ousted Presidents. Do you think it's in the best interests of the country, or is it time to get rid of this practice?
