Does the UK coverage of ' horror' stories, or rather the way they are dealt with, make us slobber for more?

Would we show an interest in a likewise story with 'kidnap victim' (and no pictures of 'the underground cellar' in the backyard)? I think not, as we love stories from the press that start with 'ual urges', and other equally strange terms - not forgetting names from the past inserted - Fred West, Peter Sutcliffe, Hindley/Brady - to get us dribbling, with us eagerly reading very word of the recent story of Josef Fritzl treating his victims like ' slaves'. As much as we hate the wrongdoers, it seems our lives wouldn't mean too much if there wasn't such a story shooting out the front page of a British popular paper at least half a dozen times a year.
