Why does the US continue to prop up this failed economic policy?

I agree, and the Democrats are finally showing a bit of testicular fortitude and demanding changes and increased regulation of the financial sector, since we apparently have some cowboys approving loans etc... but yes, I definitely agree with you, we need to stop being such a debt-reliant society. It's amazing how much debt the average American is carrying, compared to the rest of the world. I think it's time to go back to primarily buy things that you can actually afford with cold hard cash (or at least a very sure chance of paying off within a year or two..) this financial gold speculating is obviously going to keep come back and biting us in the .
